Updated safety information on disodium pamidronate and zoledronic acid

Health Canada and Novartis have advised of reports of osteonecrosis of the jaw in cancer patients being treated with disodium pamidronate (Aredia) and zoledronic acid (Zometa).

Cardiovascular toxicity of valdecoxib (Bextra)

Two randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials in patients immediately after coronary-artery bypass grafting showed that valdecoxib increased the risk of serious cardiovascular outcomes by a factor of approximately three.
